Federal Government Takes Over Bayelsa State Airport

The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken over the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Cargo Airport under construction in Zarama near Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The Federal Ministry of Aviation (FAAN) will be in charge of the development of the airport initiated by the State Government. Planning for the N45 billion project commenced in 2005, but the construction site flooded recently and is now abandoned.

Our people have started again. Just how much goods and of what description does Bayelsa and even neighbouring states produce that they hope to run through the new airport? Ogun plans a similar airport, and you only pray our leaders learn to spend the people’s money with common sense and some conscience and start avoiding these hare-brained no hopers

The site flooded and abandoned? No surveys were done before commmisioning money to the project? Oh boy. Bet we dont see an airport there before the decade runs out.
