Enugu Airport May Open in December

Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, will reopen for limited daylight operations in December 2010. The airport was closed in February for extensive renovation and upgrade of the runway and facilities.

The Nigerian government also awarded a contract for the renovation and replacement of Air Traffic Control (ATC) consoles and Very High Frequency (VHF) radios in 13 ATC towers.

Update: the airport manager said that the airport will be re-opened by mid-December. No final decision has been taken though.
