Overland Drops Jos, Katsina and Minna

Overland Airways cancelled its flights from Abuja and Lagos to Jos, Katsina and Minna. It appears these routes are not profitable, even when operated with small propellor aircraft (ATR42 and Beech 1900).

The airline retains a five weekly service (Monday-Friday) between Abuja, Ilorin, Ibadan and Lagos.

Were there no subsidies by state governments to airlines operating into less than profitable airports?

Its not surprising that the federal government cant see the glaring need for subsidies for travel to less promising destinations like Katsina and Minna. Remember, there are no multi billion Naira contracts involved in the use of imagination to make operations more attractive for our carriers on these routes. And so, the people Jos, Katsina and Minna lose vital lifelines of commerce, leisure, education, government affairs and investment. Its only a sad reflection of the state of minds of the idiots who run Nigeria
