Arik Air to rebuild its maintenance hangar

Arik Air’s chairman announced that the airline intends to rebuild its maintenance hangar in Lagos. The new facility will be operated in partnership with Lufthansa Technik, Boeing and Bombardier.

The hangar would not only carry out major repairs of Arik aircraft, but other new generation aircraft in the fleet of other domestic airlines in the country. He called on the Federal Government to consider acquiring the Bombardier aircraft type for domestic operatorsĀ in lieu of its proposal to acquire new aircraft for domestic operations in the country.

Arik Air has been planning to develop a super hangar since its inception in 2006.

More grandiose announcements and chest-beating from the clowns at Arik Air. If this is truly how they manage their PR, sporadically regurgitating old recycled press releases, with no mention of time frame, cost to completion, and other commerical details…The management of this airline is laughable, along with its dubious financing and corrupt background.

Goes to show the private airline sector still “get as he be”. The airline has been consitently highly inaccessible for all manner of serious enquiries. In addition, their social presence can be a lot beter, with preferrably less entertainment event information on facebook and more custormer servicing. Dana are trying. They seemed to have stopped with tweeting, perhaps not unconnected with that Omojuwa guy and a missing iPad incident last year. From the core business to evrything that constitutes the total package, I don’t feel a good connection and as such can’t say they represent Nigeria at the moment, unless…. but then again, that’s maybe too much to ask as such is going to have to be the role cut out for a national airline that is expected to return.

Arik chairman should pay his staffs their pension first before embarking on building hangars
